Golden Aspens - I Missed You Last Year, Men's Breakfast Presentation, Healing Hearts Drive - A Success!

So Happy to See the Golden Aspens!

Hello Elementary Friends,

I did not realize how much I would miss the golden aspens of the Colorado High Country last autumn while I was in Australia.  As I was bemoaning my lack of glorious aspens, I received a very wonderful surprise.  The springtime Sydney Jacarandas began their yearly blooms.  They were just as glorious in a different way!

Now, this year I am missing my Jacarandas - I guess I can never be totally satisfied!

Presentation to Saint Andrew UMC Men's Ministries Breakfast

Last Saturday I was honored to be asked to give a talk on my year on educator exchange to Australia to the Men's Breakfast at my church, Saint Andrew United Methodist Church in Highlands Ranch, CO.   It was a pleasure to relive some of our experiences while there.  Here is a link to the presentation:

Healing Hearts for Harvey's Kids

Last, but definitely not least - I have been asked by many people to report on the success of the Mortensen Elementary initiative to collect books and school supplies for affected schools and children in Southeast Texas,  These children and their families are still recovering and are just now in the early stages of  the rebuilding of their homes and schools. Here is a short video of my third graders sorting and moving the boxes of supplies.  Mitch is still down helping his parents with the rebuilding of their home.  He is planning on flying home soon and will drive all of the supplies down to their recipients.  We are very appreciative for all who have donated - it will all go to a very worthy cause!

ENJOY!
