Can You Believe It? I Have Actually Been Cold a Few Times This Week!   Feels Good! Hello Elementary Friends, It was rather strange when we left the states in the winter to come into summer here, but I am actually finding the time and seasons in each place now even more confusing.  I continue to read postings from family and friends about the end of the school year and summer plans and activities back home. And, here we are just now going into winter!  It is taking some adjustment, I must admit.  And, for the first time since December (short of a couple times in New Zealand) I have actually been cold a this week!  It really feels good, though.  I may not say that in mid-July, so we will see! The forecast for the next week calls for highs in the mid to upper 60's and lows in the upper 40's.  Pretty nice, really! Here is a photo of Bondi Beach yesterday (Wednesday 25 May) which is quite a bit different than on Mother's Day with Mary Beth and even more dif...

A Lovely 10 Days with Kevin and Mary Beth! We had a ball with Mary Beth and Kevin on their visit to Australia!  They were able to see and do a lot of things in their short visit.  Last Wednesday they rode the ferry over to Manly Beach where Kevin tried his hand at surfing.  He did actually stand up on the board for a few seconds!  He has now had that experience!  Here are some photos of their trip to Manly and back. They especially enjoyed the kangaroos and the koalas!  Click here for a link to their website: Featherdale Wildlife Park After a trip to the Sydney Fish Market, the three of them were home for a delicious seafood gumbo made by Mitch and a visit from our neighborhood cockatoo, Popeye, and several of his friends! Here is a link to information on the famous Sydney...

Mr. and Mrs. Osburn Receive Australian Welcome! Hello Elementary Friends, The time that I was waiting for finally came!  Mary Beth and Kevin arrived in Sydney last Friday (6th) at 7:10 AM.  They totally missed May 5th this year.  They will have an extra long May 16th on their way back to make up for it!  Beaumont Road school staff welcomed them in grand style, and we have had some wonderful experiences with them since their arrival.   On Friday evening we took the ferry to Circular Quay and had dinner at the Opera House Western Foyers Eat Drink Cafe.  It has amazing views of the Harbor Bridge.  Here are some photos of our evening on Friday. On Saturday (7th) Mary Beth and I got our hair cut, highlighted (Mary Beth), and styled at the local hair salon that I have used a few times.  It was so fun!  Then, we took the ferry back into the city to go to the Rocks Market - a street market open each Saturday and Sunday just near Circular Quay.  ...
